Drug and Regulated Products Policy
Strict safety, listing, prescription, registration, storage and advertising rules for medicines and regulated products.
Last updated: 12 October 2026
Safety first: permitted listings only
OCL Health will only display or sell products that the site operator has approved and that may lawfully be marketed through the specific sales channel. Product category, registration status, seller authorisation, prescription status, storage requirements and applicable professional licensing must be checked before a listing becomes public.
This policy applies to medicines, herbal products, supplements, medical devices, cosmetics and other regulated goods. A seller must not assume that a product is permitted because it is widely sold, advertised on social media, offered by a network marketer or listed on another website. Where the legal status is uncertain, the item must remain unpublished until verified.
Registration and authenticity
Where required, the product must have a valid NAFDAC registration or other applicable authorisation, with details that match the actual product, manufacturer, formulation and pack. The seller should retain supplier invoices, authorised-source records and product-registration evidence. OCL may ask for documentary proof before approving a listing or at any later time.
Counterfeit, falsified, expired, recalled, unregistered or suspicious products are prohibited. Listings must not invent a registration number, alter product packaging images, obscure expiry dates, or claim that an approval has been granted when it has not. Suspected products must be paused while the operator investigates.
Prescription-only and controlled medicines
Prescription-only medicines and controlled medicines must not be sold through a general self-service checkout unless the operator has verified the necessary legal authorisation, licensed professional oversight, prescription validation, dispensing and recordkeeping processes. If these requirements are not implemented and verified, such products must not be listed for sale.
Controlled medicines require additional care regarding authorisation, secure storage, distribution, documentation and permitted use. OCL's default position is to block controlled and prescription-only medicines from ordinary consumer checkout until a qualified compliance review confirms the lawful workflow.
Product descriptions and health claims
Product pages must accurately state the product name, category, manufacturer or responsible supplier, size or strength, ingredients where applicable, usage information as approved, warnings, storage conditions, expiry information where appropriate, and registration details when required. Images should represent the actual product and must not hide critical label information.
Claims must be truthful, balanced, substantiated and consistent with approved indications and advertising permissions. Sellers must not promise guaranteed cures, exaggerate results, use fear to pressure purchases, imply that a supplement replaces prescribed treatment, or encourage customers to stop prescribed medicines without a qualified clinician's advice.
Advertising and promotions
Regulated-product advertising must comply with current NAFDAC requirements and other applicable law. NAFDAC's published Drug and Related Product Advertisement Regulations state that drug advertising requires product registration and prior approval. OCL will not publish drug advertisements or promotional claims that lack the required approvals.
Until the operator verifies the exact category and approval status, the site should use neutral factual product information rather than promotional health claims. The platform should not run unapproved discounts, giveaways, endorsements or consumer promotions for medicinal products where these are prohibited. Approved advertising assets and evidence should be retained for review.
Storage, delivery and recalls
Sellers must maintain the storage conditions stated by the manufacturer and protect products from heat, moisture, tampering, contamination and unauthorised access. Products requiring cold-chain handling must not be offered unless the seller can reliably maintain and document the required temperature throughout storage and delivery.
If a product is recalled, suspected to be unsafe or subject to a regulatory alert, the listing must be suspended promptly, affected orders identified where possible, and customers informed in a safe and legally appropriate manner. Sellers must cooperate with lawful requests from regulators and provide traceability records.
Customer safety and reporting
OCL's product pages are not a diagnosis tool. Customers should consult a pharmacist or qualified healthcare professional about personal suitability, interactions, pregnancy, allergies, dosing and adverse reactions. In an emergency, customers should seek urgent local medical care rather than wait for a website response.
Reports of suspected counterfeit products, adverse events, incorrect labels or compromised packaging must be escalated promptly. OCL should preserve relevant listing, supplier, batch and order records and direct users to appropriate official reporting channels when warranted.
Enforcement and seller responsibility
OCL may reject, pause or remove listings, suspend seller access, cancel unfulfilled orders, request records or report suspected unlawful activity where appropriate. Sellers are responsible for the accuracy of submitted information and for maintaining licences, authorisations, training, insurance and other obligations that apply to their business.
This policy is a strict platform rule, not a legal licence to sell medicines. It must be reviewed by a qualified Nigerian pharmacy/regulatory professional before regulated products are enabled for live transactions. Where a rule is stricter than a seller's preferred practice, the stricter rule applies.
